Unless he questions you when you hang out with your mates, i do not think it is appropriate in your part to do the same thing. There is always a stage (mostly) where a guy will spend more time with another girl if she shows him more interest or gives him more attention than you do. This could develop into a fling or it could just die off if you gave him more face time.
If he brings her up a lot or try hard to meet up or spend time with her then it could be for the reason i just mentioned, you should try and give him more attention and hope that he has not done anything to ruin your relationship.
Also, do you trust him enough to leave him with this Emma girl while your at Uni? The more i think about it, the more it seems like your the only one at this stage who cares about the direction this whole thing is heading. You could simply ask him if he has done anything and make it clear to him that you do not give second chances. His reaction to that should really give you an idea of what to do next.
